“What the Fearless Critic books and apps have that UrbanSpoon and Yelp don’t is a complete lack of bullshit.”
“I’ve spent years driving around with Zagat...but I think I’ll replace it with this Fearless Critic guide.”

The sake selection alone could serve as a reason for Victory

There’s a word often used by those with 20/20 hindsight: “if.” For example, if planners, investors, and other hopefuls had been right, Kenichi would be a centerpiece attraction in the city’s most glamorous planned development. It’s a beautiful and elegant space: sleek and modern, without feeling forced. Even curtained seating in back and the showy tendrils of light out front fit the mood.

The restaurant’s sake program is the smartest and most extensive in all of Dallas. Kenichi’s take on sushi is more fusion than Japanese, bringing local and global hints into maki and nigiri—and sometimes the presentation tilts between mundane or over the top (tuna and blue cheese). The Kenichi special and the spicy tuna stand out. They also try out wild boar with forest fruits and other interesting preps.

Service is paced and professional, wanting only a sophisticated clientele. But Victory Park is often dead on non-game, non-concert nights. Even primetime on Saturday can be sparse.
