Okay, so: this restaurant is Thai Orchid Cuisine in Haltom City, not Thai Orchid in Addison. Now that we have gotten that out of the way...

This is the only place in the Metroplex that serves larb shrimp (a traditional salad with ground shrimp). It’s a good rendition, with the shrimp making it a very different dish from the chicken versions you so often see. It is also the only place in Tarrant County where grilled Isan sausage with sticky rice can be found. That should be worth it to anyone in the area. There’s also Lao-style green papaya salad. Less spicy than the Thai version, but more savory and funky with extra lime juice and fish sauce, this salad is very refreshing on a hot Texas day.

Kids eat free on Wednesdays from 1–4pm and there is always a cheap lunch special which includes an eggroll and your choice of soup or salad. Just remember, you’re not in Addison, Dorothy...
