“What the Fearless Critic books and apps have that UrbanSpoon and Yelp don’t is a complete lack of bullshit.”
“I’ve spent years driving around with Zagat...but I think I’ll replace it with this Fearless Critic guide.”

Steel
A Pan-Asian idol that tries to cover a lot of ground culinarily, and does a decent job

Steel is among the most consistent, high quality sushi restaurants in Dallas. Yet it also serves a vast array of contemporary Asian dishes rife with Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese culinary traditions and influences. The setting is chic and energetic, with sleek surfaces and a strategic use of lighting that creates both spectacle and romantic mystery.

This, while diners feast on vibrant dishes like shaken Vietnamese beef; sea-salt-and-chili-pepper calamari; spicy clay pots with shrimp and sea bass; and lemongrass chicken. Sushi is the star, though, with bold compositions like the “Firecracker Roll” with spicy tuna, avocado, crab, and jalapeño; “Hell Roll” with tuna, Sriracha, and Japanese chili; and Japanese ceviche with octopus, crab, shrimp, squid, and clams.

For dessert, sample the chocolate sushi roll or a festive chocolate bento box meant for sharing. The wine list is smart, with selections that will pair well with sushi. Or go for sake. A handful of selections are available by the glass or bottle, or try one of the weekly sake flight tasting specials to explore optimal pairings with Steel’s provocative cuisine.
