This tiny run-down diner with late ‘80s décor isn’t a pretty sight; the lines running out the door on weekends seem laughable when the Hill has so many restaurants offering brunch in a better setting. But breakfast at Glo’s is good and simple—the fanciest thing on the menu is a stack of pancakes with seasonal fruit.
Glo’s is all about poached eggs, bacon, and hash—the signature and best dish is the eggs Benedict. There are a few items for vegetarians, like the biscuits and gravy made with mushroom gravy, and a vegan special that’s not on the menu: a mound of hash browns, purple cabbage, tomatoes, avocado and onions (ask for it with the veggie chili).
We can’t overemphasize how annoying the wait for a table can be. You’ll probably spend more than twice the amount of time waiting, and waiting for your food, than it takes to eat your scramble or short stack. And some of the waitstaff are among the visibly hung-over and short-tempered. At least the coffee is good—from Bainbridge Island roaster Pegasus—and available while you wait.
