In the immortal words of Jon Bon Jovi: It’s all the same...only the names will change. Daily Juice—or its two southernmost locations—is now JuiceLand, but run by the same lovable, scruffy team you’ve always known. There was an ownership schism, and the Hyde Park location has kept the old Daily Juice name and still prepares vegan food, as well. As far as we can tell, the mojo’s still risin’ there, too.
The city continues to get its pricy fix for cups of just-plucked-fresh fruits and vegetables in ingenious combinations. There’s the filling energy boost “Subliminator,” a wicked combination of blueberry, cherry, banana, fresh-pressed apple juice, peanut butter, spirulina, flax oil, and whey protein. (Our “mmm” tip: replace the peanut butter with raw almond butter.) Then there’s the world-brightening “Fire Hydrant,” an inflammatory concoction of carrot, beet, garlic, jalapeño, lime, and orange that is the brilliant, beautiful shade of sunsets. You can invent your own, as well, and everything is served in 100% compostable corn-based cups.
There’s also a good selection of vegan foods to go in the cold case. Show up on a bike for a discount, but remember: they close an hour earlier in winter.
