Little Saigon’s answer to the Uwajimaya food court, this deli has nearly every conceivable cheap Vietnamese lunch food portioned out under tight plastic wrap. Packages of ghostly spring rolls and rice dishes are stacked all over the place, nearly obscuring the hot food trays and the deli counter.
The latter is the real draw—made-to-order banh mi (Vietnamese baguette sandwiches). All the standard concoctions are here: pork, tofu, and three different types of salmon-tinged mystery meat known simply as “ham.” There are plenty of fresh sweet snacks to end a meal with, too, like Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, fried bananas, and sweet rice cakes.
When the place is busy, ordering can be kind of a free-for-all, so stand your ground and don’t be shy about getting your order taken. Oh, and note that there are many Saigon Delis in town, none of them affiliated with the others. Trust your GPS, not any signage, to lead you to the right one.
