Seattle has a handful of top-end steakhouses, but JaK’s wins the prize for being the least stuffy and least pricey of the bunch, while still turning out excellent food. What’s more, JaK’s is local to Seattle, not a huge chain, and as a result, it might be the only serious steakhouse to which you’ll feel comfortable showing up in jeans and a T-shirt (though you can also get spruced up in a suit, if you prefer). Still, even with a laid-back attitude, JaK’s offers the excellent service and professional, old-world vibe you’d expect at a jeweled-cuff-links-and-Cuban-cigar steakhouse.
The beef is dry-aged on premises. (It’s corn-fed beef, but it’s good stuff, not feedlot beef.) And for the highest-quality beef cuts and other mains, the prices are fair, especially since salad and sides are included—no ridiculous à-la-carte prices. Portions are large and can often be shared.
JaK’s has a good wine program, with many well-known Washington State options, some big juicy reds to accompany the steaks, and other more delicate selections to round out the list. There’s not a lot of diversity on the list outside of the U.S., and the selection occupies a pretty young window, but it’s well-rounded. This is one of the best options in town for steak.
