Overview Château Ste. Michelle can’t be blamed for the name (which evokes either a hokey summer camp or an equine graveyard) as Horse Heaven is Washington State’s newest AVA. Thankfully, the wine itself is delicious enough to make us forget any issues we might have with the name. Refreshing and floral, it’s just what we want in a domestic Sauvignon Blanc. Here’s to dear old departed Trigger.

Nose It’s powerful, with aromas of apple. Some blind tasters found it to be a bit stinky.

Mouth There are big orange notes, but there’s enough acid to carry them through.
