Website www.barefootwine.comOverview To hear our blind tasters speak about
this wine, you’d think they were
discussing a pricey white Bordeaux
rather than an inexpensive American
Sauv Blanc from one of the most
ubiquitous of producers. They were
particularly taken with the minerality
of this one—a term used to suggest
that hard-to-define sense of wet rock
after a rain or just to describe those
“clean” qualities that clearly aren’t
fruit, earth, or vegetables (or
animals—20 questions anyone?).
Minerality is one of our favorite
qualities in a white wine—finding it
in a mass-produced, inexpensive
wine is always exciting.
Nose It’s minerally and nutty—not
what we’d expect from this producer,
but we’re not complaining.
Mouth It’s got nice acid (as a Sauv
Blanc should), and it avoids the
excesses of some New Zealand Sauv
Blancs.
