Website www.yalumba.comOverview Since the anti-oak movement took
hold a few years ago, “Unwooded”
or “Unoaked” Chardonnay has
become a ubiquitous household
designation almost entirely
associated with Australia—and it’s a
designation almost always for cheap
wines, not expensive ones. And you
still almost never see expensive
Chardonnays, from Australia or
California or anywhere else, that
aren't oaky—it’s the cheap ones that
have moved in the less oaky direction
in the past few years. Yalumba’s is a
stellar example of this trend.
Nose With its bright citrus and
tropical fruit flavors, it would be easy
to mistake this wine for a Sauvignon
Blanc.
Mouth It manages to be both juicy
and crisp, with bright acid to meet
the full apple flavors.
