Overview Nobilo was founded in the 1940s by a Croatian immigrant whose family had been making wine in Europe for hundreds of years. According to the story, he moved to New Zealand in hopes of continuing to make wines in the Old World style—the likes of which were nowhere to be found in Kiwi country. There’s still work to be done: just like last year’s vintage, whose flavors were most definitely not European, this year’s wine has many of the green, less fruity flavors we associate with New World Sauvignon Blanc.

Nose Our blind tasters found vegetal aromas (especially cabbage) and lime—not a bad combination at all.

Mouth Sharp and acidic, it has lots of vegetal flavors and a bit of fruit as well.
