Characteristics Bitter, hoppy

Overview Anderson Valley, better known for Boont Amber than for this beer, hails from Mendocino County, California. They’ve got a quintessentially northern California brewing operation set on a rural ranch just outside of the farming community of Boonville, complete with a vintage-styled Bavarian brewhouse and 18-hole disc golf course.

Flavors and aromas An aroma of dusty dry hops was appealing, but there was little more to this beer beyond the nice nose and then a significant wall of bitterness. If you’re looking for a full-strength, American rendition of English best bitters, with long, lingering bitterness, give this a shot, but for our money, there are better options out there. We’re also left wondering what exactly it means to be “Ottin’,” too.
