Overview Ah, Hamm’s. Just the mention of the name takes us back to the days when the Hamm’s bear would dance away to the famous jingle (“From the land of sky blue waters...”) between morning cartoons. Those ads ran from the early 1950s until the mid-1980s, but nowadays, the popularity of this beer amongst the college-party set probably owes more to the bargain-bin price and the lack of any striking beer quality (our translation of “drinkability”).

Flavors and aromas The beer itself is rather less memorable than the ads. Our panel was struck by the lack of hop aroma, malt character, hop bitterness, or hop flavor. Served cold enough, though, it’s probably indistinguishable from most other ice-cold, adjunct-heavy pale lagers.
