Overview It only takes a glance at its website to see that Caldera is a small operation. But these beers pop up in beer discussions regularly—it’s clear that the brewery has hit upon something with its unique canning operation.

Flavors and aromas Caldera’s IPA starts off strong, with potent grapefruit and resiny hops in the nose, along with a caramel quality that one taster likened to maple syrup. In the mouth, mild sweetness and fruity esters are quickly replaced with an intense bitterness that grabs the tongue and refuses to let go. This was tasty, but we found the bitterness hard-edged and tough to clear for the next tasting.
