Overview Ice filtration—trapping fine particles in ice crystals that are easier to comb out—allegedly makes lagers “smoother,” but in our opinion, the problem with beers like Budweiser is not that they are insufficiently smooth. It’s that they have insufficient personality. Although “ice” is just a code word for higher alcohol, the rise of craft ales in America has made even the most alcoholic of Buds seem like a party pooper on that front, too.

Flavors and aromas The aroma of this beer is sweet, with some soft floral notes that reminded one taster of white wine. The palate is also sweet, but there’s a light, tart kick (possibly from the very high carbonation) along with neutral, bready malt. The clearest indication of hop character is found in the clean finish.
