Overview Brewing equipment is expensive.
Sierra Nevada, founded by a
homebrew store owner, got its
tanks and vats by following a timehonored
microbrewery tradition:
they used repurposed dairy
equipment.
Flavors and aromas A dry, roasty
nose announces this porter, which
has an enticingly smooth and
creamy mouthfeel. Roast character
is more pronounced in the mouth,
with bitterness from both the malt
and hops, and there’s some acidity
as well, likely from the darker
malts. That acidity lingers with the
nearly burnt roast quality into the
finish. Overall, a good,
straightforward example of the
darker side of American porter.
