Overview While there are nearly one hundred breweries in Colorado today, most of them microbreweries, in 1979 there was just one craft brewery: Boulder Beer Company, founded by a pair of professors from the local University of Colorado at Boulder.

Flavors and aromas Like Eel River’s porter, this offering gives an impression of strength and density well beyond its actual alcohol level. Big chocolate, butterscotch, and minty aroma hops fairly dance around the nose, and the palate’s dark-roast cold coffee flavors are nicely rounded out by slightly sweet chocolate. A dense mouthfeel finishes pleasantly dry in a satisfying conclusion.
