Overview Freixenet is a familiar face in The Wine Trials, but typically it’s their Cordon Negro line that makes the cut. But the Carta Nevada wines made a great showing this year, along with their black-bottled cousins. The wines have a deliciously funky, Champagney nose. This one, with its complex flavors and reasonable price tag, would be a perfect bottle to explore with various food pairings. That’s right: you can actually drink Cava with food, not just toast to big bonuses and hose down models.

Nose It has an interesting blend of clean, mineral aromas, citrus, and a funkier cheeselike aroma that’s reminiscent of Champagne.
