Website www.kourtakis.comOverview We imagine this is what sweet wine
tasted like a thousand years ago.
Rich, raisiny, and rustic, this Greek
wine (and repeat Wine Trials
selection) is the kind of thing
Odysseus would have drunk to
celebrate his return. Even better, a
slight deliberate oxidation means
that you can keep the bottle open
for a few days and the wine won’t
change—something you’d have to
be crazy to attempt with most
non-fortified wines.
Nose Our blind tasters found it rich
and decadent, with aromas of
caramel, apricot, toffee, and raisin.
The slight aroma of alcohol is a bit
distracting, but we’re not
complaining.
Mouth It’s dark and viscous, with
flavors of raisin, chocolate, toffee,
and nuts.
