Overview The ideal wine for cheap outdoor refreshment, Vinho Verde is meant to be drunk young: the word “verde” refers to the youthful greenness of the wine. The Fonte, crisp and lightly sparkling, is a perfect example of this classic style. It was last year’s winner in the Light White category, and we’ll even admit to having drunk it over ice on the occasional hot summer day.

Nose It’s fairly faint, but lime and green apple are still recognizable. And really, you’re not drinking this wine for the nose anyway.

Mouth Here’s where the wine comes into its own: lots of acidity, apples, citrus, and that slight Vinho Verde prickle are why we love this wine so.
