Vintage tasted 2008 Grapes Arinto, Roupeiro, Antão Vaz

Overview Good luck keeping track of the grapes in Portuguese wines; there are more of them than we’ve ever been able to remember. This wine is made up of Arinto, Roupeiro, and Antão Vaz, which we’re pretty sure translate into “delicious,” “inexpensive,” and “balanced,” respectively. In any case, this bottle is precisely what we look for in a Portuguese wine: subtle and understated, it’s a perfect table wine at a price that doesn’t require special occasions.

Nose There are green apples, flowers (one blind taster picked out lavender), and a slight grassiness.

Mouth It’s crisp, understated, and clean, with bright flavors of apple and a solid body.
