Vintage tasted 2009 Grapes Riesling

Overview Riesling is one of the grapes most sensitive to terroir (the combination of soil, weather, and general sense of place). So it’s always interesting to try a Riesling from a new area— especially when that area is as unusual as Bulgaria. And while this wine didn’t knock us out with exotic flavors and aromas, it did provide a surprisingly strong example of a good, enjoyable Riesling.

Nose It’s honeyed and floral, with citrus and even some peach—our blind tasters were impressed.

Mouth It’s fairly sweet but not overpoweringly so, with a long, floral finish.
