Overview Fuller’s 1845 Celebration Ale commemorates the 150th anniversary of the company’s incorporation. It’s a “strong ale” in English parlance, but at 6.3% ABV, it’s not overwhelmingly high in alcohol by American craft ale standards.
Flavors and aromas A bright, complex nose offers biscuity malt, spices, and hints of cider vinegar and pear. In the mouth there is light but interesting English malt character and full-bodied hop flavor, along with a pleasantly complex and lingering bitterness. Green apple character comes forward as this warms, but seems to add complexity and interest rather than distracting. Mild oxidative notes detracted for some, but others thought this was nearly perfect.
