Rogue Old Crustacean

Packaging 7oz/207ml bottle
Characteristics Bitter, malty, hoppy, strong
Overview At 11.5% ABV, Old Crustacean
was the third-booziest beer we
tasted, behind the Dogfish Head
World Wide Stout and North
Coast’s Old Stock Ale. Like densely
packed wines, these beers are built
to last and may require time to
really seem drinkable.
Flavors and aromas “This one
goes to 11.” Every aspect of this
barleywine seems to be in
overdrive, from the spicy, malty
nose to the intensely bitter and
malty palate, which overflows with
spices and citrus hop character. For
all the intensity of the bitterness,
this still sweet at the same time,
which is unusual. The huge finish
is thick, bitter, long, and complex.
It’s hard to imagine drinking more
than a few ounces of this. Buyer
beware.
