Overview Boddington’s is widely available in the US and Canada, but it’s not quite the same product as it is in England, where alcohol character is lower and the product is known as “Draught Bitter.”
Flavors and aromas An English ale nose of sweet malt with an apple-cider character to it and a thick head lead to a surprisingly flat—both for carbonation, which is less surprising, and for flavor—palate that is light, with little of the rich and complex malts that English ales promise. There’s a slight bitterness, but it comes off more as medicinal than hoppy. A sickly solvent-fruit character emerges at the end as this warms.
