Nestled among the Korean BBQ houses in North Dallas, So Gong Dong Tofu House offers a different side of Korean food.
Well, of course, they have barbecue too, doesn’t everyone and their Korean brother? But the specialty here is all kinds of Korean soft tofu stews. We particularly love the sundubu with chunks of seafood flavoring the broth. Another stellar option nak-ji guk soo, stir-fried noodles and octopus in a spicy red pepper sauce.
There’s good variety and quality banchan (side dishes) here, and the pan-fried fish is also a crowd pleaser. This establishment is yet another lesson in not judging a book by its cover; the outside is pretty run-down, but as is often the case with ethnic places, the grimier the outside, the better the food inside. It might take a while to find the spot, but when you do, you’ll be saying it is So Gong Dong good!
