If you decide to skip BBQ at Korea House (which you should—the best thing there is the raw seafood dishes), go next door to Chosun, one of the few places in town that uses charcoal grills at your table instead of gas grills. The flavor of the resulting meat will make you a return customer.
Gas is easier and cheaper (and safer in many ways), but c’mon, by the time Texans knew about the wonders of barbecuing over charcoal, Koreans had the routine down. And if that weren’t enough to convince you, you can order things to grill here that are not found elsewhere. Go for the duck or the beef tongue. Want something else interesting and not found elsewhere? Okay then, try the bok uh soo yook (broiled blowfish) and wonder why you can’t find it elsewhere when it tastes this good.
Lunch specials run mostly $7–$8 and are great values, and a way to try a less expensive meal. And private rooms are available for 10 or more people, for those more private BBQ moments...you know you have them.
