Website www.concannonvineyard.comOverview Concannon built its reputation on
Petite Sirah, and the folks there claim
to have produced the world’s first
single-varietal version. Their skill at
turning out dense, luscious Petite
Sirah—with flavors and aromas that
wouldn’t be out of place in $30 or
$40 bottles of wine—certainly
bolsters their claim. If you’re a fan of
bold, powerful New World reds that
aren’t sweet or jammy (a specialty of
good Petite Sirah), this bottle should
hit the spot.
Nose It’s full of black fruit, pepper,
and what one blind taster described
as compost.
Mouth Loads of tannins, rich black
fruit, and a huge, round mouthfeel
combine to form a wine that can
only be described as a blast.
