Overview Though distributed by the massive E & J Gallo company and hailing from Australia, the home of massively overripe wines, this Shiraz manages to be, if not subtle, at least not unpleasantly over-the-top. It has a hint of burnt rubber that can strike many drinkers the wrong way, but it’s otherwise a rich, lovely wine. But we must confess that we secretly hope Australia will someday go back to the Francophone “Syrah.”

Nose That burnt rubber and chemical note, while definitely there, is offset by a lovely nose that seems almost floral.

Mouth It’s soft and round. One blind taster called it lovely and delicate.
