Grapes Petite Sirah
Website www.boglewinery.comOverview Misleading name aside, Petite Sirah is
not a milder version of Syrah; in fact,
they are two distinct grapes, and
Petite Sirah is much bolder, more
tannic, fruitier, and all-around bigger
than its namesake. Bogle’s version
follows this pattern: big, juicy, and
tannic, it’s a perfect companion for a
steak on a cold winter evening.
Nose Red berries dominate here,
though our blind tasters differed on
whether they were over the top.
There’s also a nice smoke note.
Mouth There’s a strong blackberry
flavor, as well as herbs. It’s not as
tannic as some Petite Sirahs (the
tannins are still noticeable), and
there’s some nice acid thrown into
the mix as well.
