Overview Launched in 1985, this beer was a tweak of a family recipe that founder Jim Koch updated with help from Miller Lite creator Joseph Owades. Today, it’s the flagship beer of the largest American-owned brewery.

Flavors and aromas This amber lager is somewhat more full-bodied than most of the pale lagers we tasted; it also contains flavor hops and perceptible bitterness, which give it a crisp, snappy finish. Good carbonation leaves a lingering head, and caramel fills out the palate. One taster thought the body was too heavy for the flavor profile, but almost all thought this was pretty good.
