Perhaps knowing it will never rival Café Besalu or Bakery Nouveau for croissants, Honoré has staked its claim on another French treat, the macaroon. The raspberry macaroon is the closest replica to what you’d get at Ladurée in Paris in terms of texture, balance, and intensity of fiavor.
There’s a wonderful variety of macaroons; flavors range from simple chocolate to salted caramel, lavender, or pistachio. Honoré also makes a very good quiche (we love the ultra-browned crust), and the croissants aren’t half-bad either—they’re buttery, if not as delicate as the ones at Café Besalu.
The small space has a few counter seats for sipping cappuccinos. It also frequently has lines out the door. Honoré attracts a lot of moms with little kids in tow, and we can see why: it’s less chaotic than Besalu, but still a feast for the eyes, with all of those multi-colored macaroons lined up in the pastry case like delicious little yo-yos.
