Website www.daosul.comOverview The Dão region of Portugal is often
said to be that country’s Burgundy.
The wines are made mostly by small
farmers rather than huge
conglomerates, and the style is
usually restrained, elegant, and
distinctly food-friendly…right up our
alley. Even more than last year’s (also
excellent) offering, this year’s vintage
lives up to the region’s reputation.
Our blind tasters loved its earthiness
and barnyard aromas, and they
quickly started craving a good steak
to accompany the wine.
Nose There’s rich fruit and earth
here. One taster said simply said it
smells expensive.
Mouth More fruit, along with
barnyard flavors and enough acidity
to help it pair well with food. We
wouldn’t necessarily drink it solo, but
with dinner it should be superb.
