Website www.vinicantinepirovano.comOverview Pirovano, which produces regional
wines from every corner of Italy, is a
frequent visitor to the pages of The
Wine Trials. This is one of its better
offerings, and it has a taste that’s
distinctly Old World Italian. We
normally wouldn’t trust an Italian
wine that refuses to name its region
of origin, but that’s the beauty of
blind tasting: despite our prejudices,
it’s impossible to argue with what’s in
the bottle. And what’s in this bottle
is very tasty indeed.
Nose It’s got plenty of black fruit,
earth, and a mulchy aroma—a
combination that prompted one
blind taster to say that it was subtle
and smelled expensive.
Mouth It’s smooth in the mouth,
with cherries and continued
earthiness. All in all, a perfect wine
for outdoor grilling.
