Overview There’s probably a long, meandering parable about Shmaltz founder Jeremy Cowan’s travels across the continent looking for a permanent place to brew his He’Brew ales, but instead we’ll just note that every He’Brew beer is, in fact, kosher.

Flavors and aromas Lots of caramel malt and a mild, coffee-evoking roastiness frame this smooth, mildly bitter beer. There’s also a touch of smoke to be found here in the roast. Our tasters were fond of Messiah Bold; one suggested a pairing with fish and chips. Perhaps it’s debatable whether this is really the Chosen Beer, but don’t hesitate to choose it at the store.
