Overview Brown ales are tough to do well: the delicate flavor profile doesn’t leave a lot of places to hide flaws, and any beer that is “delicate” runs the risk of coming off as watery. Brooklyn does an admirable job of avoiding all of these pitfalls.
Flavors and aromas Dark, smooth malt, cinnamon, and clove weave through the nose with hop floral aromas and a hint of roast character. The palate is a nice blend of pale malt, light caramel, darker grains, and fruity acidity. Our tasters expected a sweetness or heaviness that never materialized. The medium carbonation supports a vibrancy to the palate and a brightness that is atypical for an ale of this color.
