Website www.ruffino.comOverview Ruffino is one of the largest, and
certainly the best known, of the big
Chianti producers. You’ll find their
bottles (which span every price point)
at every mid-scale Italian restaurant
in the country, and plenty of upper-
end joints as well. Those labelled
Chianti Superiore are subject to
stricter aging requirements—a
minimum of nine months, including
three months in the bottle—than the
base-level Chianti DOCG wines.
Nose The rich aromas include earth,
vegetables, and mushrooms.
Mouth With this wine’s distinct taste
of autumn leaves and dried tea
leaves, it’s no wonder one blind
taster exclaimed that he could have
kept drinking it for a while.
