Overview White (also called Tripel, and Cinq Cents in the 750ml packaging) is the most restrained, hoppiest, and spiciest of the three main Chimay labels. If you don’t enjoy the Trappist style, this is the Chimay you’re most likely to enjoy. But it’s also the hardest of the three to find.
Flavors and aromas Our tasters would have sworn that this beer has traditional Belgian brewing spices—coriander, bitter orange peel, and the like—which seemed apparent in the nose and as a source of bitterness in the slightly medicinal finish. But the ample body and well-hidden alcohol are nice, and if the complex spices are actually the product of yeast action, we can’t complain.
