Overview Formed in 1872, the G. Schneider
& Sohn brewing concern is
currently on its sixth Georg
Schneider. The Schneiders make
wheat beers exclusively, in a wide
variety of traditional Bavarian
styles. This is one of the more
widely available of the authentic
Bavarian hefeweizens.
Flavors and aromas Darker than
most of the wheat beers we
tasted, this has definite Bavarian
character in the nose, with the
spice component coming across as
earthy and muted. Despite some
slightly tart character, the palate is
flat, with carbonation not
supporting the malt as much as
usual, and there are some bitter
elements to the finish. Panelists
agreed that this was acceptably
drinkable, but there are better
examples of this style.
