Overview 20 years ago, Belgian-style beers in North America were the exclusive provenance of Belgian importers. Nowadays, Allagash Brewing Company, in Portland, Maine, is certainly one of the major parties responsible for the wide availability of American-produced Belgian-style beers.

Flavors and aromas Pepper, allspice, and banana notes bring the nose into bright harmony, and the palate has faint roast grain notes, light caramels, and an interplay of alcohol, sweet malt, and spices that suggests dark rum and wood. The finish is clean with a slight alcoholic bitterness; there’s enough alcohol here to produce a pronounced warming effect, and a nice mix of bright and darker flavors.
