Overview Maredsous’s beers have recently been renamed. This tripel was formerly known as Maredsous 10—many Belgian abbey breweries use numbering systems of varying sorts; here it’s the ABV of the beer—and the Brune was Maredsous 8.
Flavors and aromas Modest esters on the nose share space with a floral-spice perfume. The palate has mild cider vinegar, fruity flavors, and some alcoholic heat, before dry spices (allspice, perhaps) and mild bitterness clean things up. Not entirely typical, but the flavors come together in interesting, subtle ways, and our tasters were pleased.
