Overview Castel Frères is the largest owner and winemaker in Bordeaux, with fourteen different châteaux. This is not, from our perspective, anything to brag about—quantity is rarely related to quality in the wine world. But between all of those vineyards, some of the wines turn out to be truly delicious, such as this classic Old World table wine. It’s unassuming and subtle, with just enough flavor to stand up to food.

Nose It’s fairly faint, but there is an Old World vibe that our blind tasters enjoyed.

Mouth Extremely simple (the better to pair with a wide variety of dishes), it’s quite sleek in the mouth. It has definite acidity as well as tannins that are almost nonexistent.
