Kona Longboard Lager
Kona Longboard Lager

Family Pale Lager Style North American Lager
Country USA (HI) ABV 4.6%
Price $$ Packaging 12oz/355ml bottle
Characteristics Refreshing

Overview Kona’s Longboard Lager and Fire Rock Pale Ale are ubiquitous in Hawaii, but thanks to the brewery’s partnership with Widmer and Redhook, its beers are starting to make appearances on the mainland.

Flavors and aromas A light nose smells strikingly of sugar and corn. The flavor here is thin, slightly sweet, with more of the corn character. (For a premium-priced craft lager, that’s a poor sign.) There are some noble hops in the nose here, but if you’re going to pony up for a high-end lager, we suggest you look elsewhere. If you’re going to go Hawaiian, go Fire Rock, not Longboard.
