Overview In the 1970s and ‘80s—generally a
fairly lowbrow era for beer
advertising, all things considered—
Rainier had quirky, surreal spots,
featuring herds of longneck bottles
roaming the Northwest, or lonely
motorcycles singing the brand
name. Now it’s another dying
brand in the Pabst stable.
Flavors and aromas A generically
off-brand lager profile was what
our panel found. Light, sweet
malt, with mild fruity esters in the
nose and no evident hops resolve
into a blandly inoffensive palate
and a short, reasonably dry finish.
Nothing to get terribly bothered
about except the lack of anything
to get excited about.
