Overview Flying Dog seems determined to live up to its name—the Aspen-based brewpub moved beer production to Denver in the mid-1990s, then from Denver to Maryland in 2006. At some point that pub closed, but there’s now one in Denver near Flying Dog’s headquarters, which remain in Colorado. Confused? Wait until you see the labels.

Flavors and aromas Snake Dog IPA turned out to be a troublesome beer. A light nose of mostly pale malt had modest floral and lemony hop aromas, but once we sipped the beer, we were surprised to find the mouthfeel dominated by some harsh bitterness. Hop character in the finish had some interesting notes—mint and lemon peel—but in the end this beer came across as unbalanced.
