Characteristics Bitter, hoppy

Overview Calling this beer “East India Pale Ale” rather than “India Pale Ale” or just “IPA” seems to be intended to help us notice that it’s built with English hops. There’s nationwide distribution of this IPA, but you’ll still see it a lot more in the Northeast than in other parts of the country.

Flavors and aromas Woody, lemon-and-citrus hops form the nose here with low malt character. The palate has brightly bitter hops, with citrusy flavor, spicy and suggestive of lemon rind. The finish, in addition to rich, fruity hop flavor, has a grippy, astringent quality to the bitterness that detracts somewhat from an otherwise excellent and lively IPA.
