Overview Saranac’s Adirondack is an amber
lager that slips through the cracks
of established style a bit. But for
us, that’s not a drawback. Beer
style is a shorthand for us to talk
about things we already know
about. Shouldn’t we be putting
more effort into discovering things
we don’t know about?
Flavors and aromas A nose of
mild, woody hops and nutty malt
lead into a palate that is relatively
full-bodied and flavorful for an
American lager. There’s mild
bitterness to balance, and this
seems like it has potential, but an
astringent, harsh note hits the
back of the mouth in the finish
and drags this back to the realm of
the merely ordinary. Still not a bad
tipple, ultimately.
