Characteristics Hoppy, refreshing

Overview Widmer’s most recent addition to their year-round bottled beer line is apparently a hit—it quickly rose to become the company’s second best-selling beer behind the ubiquitous hefeweizen. Unusual hop character is due in part to use of the New Zealand “Nelson Sauvin” variety.

Flavors and aromas Fresh from the bottle, this shows fairly intense citrusy, resiny hops. But these mellow quickly into a lighter hopdriven nose that’s more orange blossom than orange reduction. The palate is smooth, mild, and refreshing, with more floral/lightcitrus character. This is a light-bodied beer, but it has clear, well-defined flavors, and all of the parts are nicely balanced. A very nice summer ale.
