Characteristics Refreshing

Overview Michelob Ultra, a “low-carb” light lager, is everywhere these days, with high profile commercials featuring Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. The irony here is that pro cyclists are usually looking for all the carbs they can get.

Flavors and aromas A very, very light beer, with a paper-thin aroma of green-apple acetaldehyde and essentially nothing else. The mouthfeel is strikingly similar to seltzer water, and fails to keep this from coming off as flat and dull. There are no hops here, and the malt has been completely consumed by yeast, leaving a dry, spritzy beverage with a faint resemblance to beer.
