Characteristics Hoppy

Overview An experimental beer launched in 2001, Hazed and Infused demonstrates that hop character and bitterness are distinctly different. Hops are soaked in the beer post-fermentation, adding chemically delicate flavor and aroma compounds—a process that many breweries use, but few with such force as this.

Flavors and aromas Big resinous piney hop character, with wild floral notes, dominates the nose. Hops is the primary flavor in the mouth, with flavor hops overwhelming the muted malt and mild bitterness. This left our tasters wanting a little more, either in the form of crisp bitterness, malty body, or both, as the end product is a little lacking in definition. The bitterness lingers a bit, but doesn’t ever really ratchet up in intensity.
